Taking it to the Extreme

Maybe you missed the IDW Publishing solicitations recently. If so, let me tell you what they're doing. They have the Star Trek license now and have already started a Next Generation series. The next series is a Klingon story line, and the comic book, I swear I'm telling the truth here, will be published in English AND KLINGON.

From ICv2.com:

IDW, the new caretaker of the Star Trek comic book franchise, has come up with a new take on the venerable science fiction saga. In April IDW will present Blood Will Tell, a five-part mini-series that will examine events depicted in the original Star Trek series episodes, such as "A Private Little War" and "The Trouble With Tribbles." from the Klingon point of view. Writer Scott Tipton will be joined by artist Dave Messina on the series, which will feature alternate covers by Messina and Joe Corroney.

Star Trek: Klingons: Blood Will Tell #1 will be available in both a regular 32-page edition and in a special 40-page Klingon language edition.

Now, if you ask me, this is taking Star Trek fandom to the extreme. They are catering to a super small market of fans who would have an interest in this "special language" edition. I doubt we'll buy more than one - quite possibly none. We don't get a lot of Star Trek fans into our store, for some reason. I am not 100% on this, but I don't think that the few that are fans are also fluent in Klingon.
