What you've Been Waiting For

Welcome fair readers to this week's What You've Been Waiting For. There weren't that many late books this week - truthfully there aren't that many books this week. So, I took the time to find out when these books were actually scheduled to come out, just for fun. Ready? Here we go!

Marvel's Astonishing X-Men #20 is coming out this week. The last issue came out 12/28, which really is not all that long of a wait for this book. However, it was ordered in October with an arrival date of 12/20/06. That makes it 2 months late.

Battlestar Galactica Zarek #2 is coming tomorrow. I really enjoyed the first issue, so I hope this second one is just as good. This comic is published by Dynamite Entertainment (D.E.) and last came out the same week as Astonishing #19 - 12/28. D.E. does not give a release date, but this one was also ordered in October.

Image Comics' Casanova #7 will hit shelves this Wednesday. This comic is the latest one this week, with the previous issue coming out 11/22. It was originally scheduled to arrive 12/13, making it 2 months late almost to the day.

Another D.E. book makes the list this week - Darkman Vs. Army of Darkness #3. The previous issue came out 12/20, which, based on the fact that I ordered this back in October, is probably when this issue should have come out. Looks like the whole series is running behind.

Did you think Marvel would only have one book on the list this week? No such luck. Nextwave Agents of Hate (or just N.E.X.T Wave) #12 is the final issue, and we've been waiting since 12/28 for it. Based on the Marvel Previews, it should have come out 1/31/07 - so it's only a couple of weeks late.

I don't think Transformers Generations #11 is late based on when I ordered it. However, it has taken its time coming out. Issue #10 arrived 12/10.

DC Comics makes the list this week too, with Trials of Shazam #5. The previous issue came out 12/13 - so almost a full 2 months ago. According to the original solicitation it was supposed to arrive 1/24, making it a few weeks late. It's not a bad series, so I hope DC makes an effort to get it back on track before the maxi-series ends (12-issue series).

Fans of All Star Batman and Robin should check my blog again later - I'm about to GO OFF on that comic and you won't want to miss it! After all, if we're talking about delays it tops the list.

Side note: my Sequart.com column is up today. This one gives pointers on how to be a better comic book store customer. Click here to read it.

Also, I had to smack-down Brian who writes "Tact is for the Weak" as he insults comic book stores. Click here to read that column - feel free to yell at him for perpetuating negative stereo-types.

This week I'm reading:

ASTONISHING X-MEN #20
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA ZAREK #2
GEN 13 #5
JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #3
MANHUNTER #28
SANDMAN MYSTERY THEATRE SLEEP OF REASON #3 (OF 5)
TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED #5 (OF 8)
