What you've Been Waiting For

Welcome one and all to another installment of my weekly examination of my new comics invoice. Here I point out what comics have gone 7+ weeks between issues. Some are late, some are just scheduled to come out less-than-monthly, but either way you have been waiting anxiously for them.

This week my cutoff was September 6. There are a bunch of comics coming out this week that had their prior issue come out back then: Lucha Libre #2 (Image), Steve Niles Strange Cases #2 (Image), Strange Embrace #5 (Image) and Y the Last Man #59 (DC/Vertigo). Strange Embrace was ordered back in July, so that one looks to be the officially late one of this batch.

Emily the Strange Vol 2 #2 (Dark Horse) and Hellboy Darkness Calls #6 (Dark Horse) are both coming out tomorrow, and they both had their prior issues hit shelves back on August 29. Hellboy was ordered back in July, so that one looks to be late.

FINALLY Astonishing X-Men #23 (Marvel, pictured) is coming out, as is Tales From the Crypt #2 (Papercutz). Both of these late arrivals saw their prior issues come out back on August 22nd.

And the longest wait of the week was for New Avengers Illuminati #5 (Marvel), which had issue #4 show up back on August 1st. We ordered it in September, so it probably isn't late, just coming out quarterly.

Now let's check in on Marvel & DC to see what the Big Two are up to with their mini-series maddness...

Big 2 One Shots & Minis starting
  • ANNIHILATION CONQUEST #1 (OF 6) - Marvel
  • COUNTDOWN SEARCH FOR RAY PALMER RED RAIN 1 SHOT - DC
  • SILVER SURFER IN THY NAME #1 (OF 4) - Marvel

Big 2 Minis Ending
  • ANNIHILATION CONQUEST STAR LORD #4 (OF 4) - Marvel
  • NEW AVENGERS ILLUMINATI #5 (OF 5) - Marvel
  • SHANNA SHE-DEVIL SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST #4 (OF 4) - Marvel
  • SUPER VILLAIN TEAM UP MODOKS 11 #5 (OF 5) - Marvel
  • WORLD WAR HULK GAMMA CORPS #4 (OF 4) - Marvel
A big Thank You to Marvel, who is helping clean off the racks with a bunch of mini-series coming to an end this week. In another few months I will be able to open some spots on my comic racks. DC didn't end any, but they only have one 1-shot this week, so that isn't too bad either. All-in-all I would say this is a good week for mini-series as some of this summer's events are drawing to a close.
