Stark in Hulk
Don't miss the Hulk! It starts this coming Friday.

Hulk Game
I think it looks like it could be pretty cool. The graphics are good anyway. The game play seems similar to the first Hulk Movie game, which wasn't bad but played too quickly.

Hulk Movie
While I didn't mind the Ang Lee version as much as most, I do hope this movie is even better. Interest in the Hulk character is at an all-time high now following the Planet Hulk and World War Hulk stories, so hopefully they do the character justice and can bring even more fans into the world of comics.

Ultimately Unbelievable

I was just reading this week's Comic Shop News, and you won't believe what it said!
Remember Ultimate Wolverine Vs. Hulk? We saw two issues of it and then it stopped. Time went by, then more time, then the whole thing became a joke about lateness and the problems with using TV writers to do comic books.
Well, according to Comic Shop News, Damon Lindelof says he has finished the script for Ultimate Wolverine Vs. Hulk # & 4, and should finish #5 in the next couple of weeks.
I kid you not! Seriously! This is not some kind of August Fools joke.
Of course, no mention is made of the art being done. I think Leinil Francis Yu has moved on to other projects, so who knows when he'll be available to do that part.
Marvel says it won't reappear in the Previews catalog until all six issues are fully completed. (Hmmm... maybe they should have thought of that a couple of years ago, before they teased us with two issues and then took it away.) I am not sure if they will reprint the first two issues, but I bet they do. Maybe in a single-issue comic that has both issues inside it. That's what they've done with similar situations. So, don't expect it to show up in a Previews any time in 2007, but maybe this time 2008 we'll see issue #3 become available for orders.

Incredible Hulk Party: The Follow-Up
Our Welcome Back Hulk party even made it to the Diamond Daily - an email newsletter sent to all Diamond accounts that are set up to receive emails. And one retailer posted about it on a comic book retailer forum we frequent. Fun Stuff!
Here are some sales numbers, for those wondering.
World War Hulk #1 sold 41% of what we ordered so far in it's first week (should be pretty close to that by the time today ends).
Incredible Hulk #106 was the first issue of WWH and it came out about a month ago. That sold about 73% as well as World War Hulk #1 in it's first week, but has since surpassed WWH #1 first week numbers.
In comparison - Civil War #1 sold through 76% of our initial orders in it's first week, about 33% better than World War Hulk #1's first week sales.
Looking at a different publisher - DC's Infinite Crisis sold through 56% of our initial orders in it's first week, about 27% better than World War Hulk #1 first week.
World War Hulk #1 has sold 73% more issues first week than the total sales of the first issue of Incredible Hulk where Planet Hulk started, and 27% better in it's first week than the total sales of Incredible Hulk #100 - which was our best selling Incredible Hulk issue before the World War Hulk started.
Do major events sell comics - sure looks that way. While World War Hulk hasn't done Civil War numbers yet, it has performed quite well it's first week out, especially considering how well Hulk typically sells without an event.

Incredible Hulk - He Came, He Saw, He Conquered
So the day ends, with World War Hulk #1 being our top selling comic book of the day. Looks like the green face paint and cookies worked! Everyone seemed to have lots of fun and people got a good laugh out of Craig and my "look" for the party. We even had one customer say, "You guys are SO awesome!" We had one of the highest visitor counts of any Wednesday this year - We tied Captain America #25 Death of day, and the only day this year that was higher was 5/2 - the Wednesday before Free Comic Book Day. Why 5/2? No idea, I can't seem to find any especially big book - it must have been the publicity we were doing before FCBD and probably people thinking we'd have free movie passes for Spider-Man 3, which we didn't end up getting.
Be sure to check my Flickr link and hopefully this weekend KellyAnn can get the pictures up on the Neptune website too (unless, she's too busy selling more comics - then she doesn't have to)
Incredible Hulk Party: The Smack-Down Begins
We've already had a great crowd. This is our first real lull, and I've got some game stuff I've got to receive that justs came via UPS. Anyway, check out the pictures!
And we were linked on Blog@ on Newsarama too. This is the second time they've posted about some cool thing we did (the first time was for the Cap Memorial)

Incredible Hulk Party: The Pre-Party

Tomorrow is World War Hulk #1. To celebrate and generate fun and interest in it we're going all out and throwing the Hulk a Welcome Home party. We've got green punch, cookies with green frosting, green balloons, green streamers, Hulk Pez and Hulk Posters, Hulk T-Shirts... all kinds of cool stuff to see and get for free for anyone who comes in. We're also going to take pictures of Hulk when he punches our guests and put them on the web site. (I'll have to put them on Flickr too, so you can use the Flickr link on the blog to see them once they're up there.)
To my surprise, Craig also picked up two green wigs and some green face makeup. He has decided to get more into it than I'd expected! So, it looks like we'll be really green tomorrow - should be pretty funny so if you're in the area I'd recommend stopping by. You'll get free stuff and a chance to laugh your head off at Craig & I. As I said, pictures to come, for those of you who just can't get here.

Another Late Marvel Event?
Now, one might think that Marvel would have learned from that. One would be wrong, it seems. World War Hulk is the big Marvel "Event" of the summer of 2007. We've only seen the Prologue so far, and one WWH issue of Incredible Hulk. And already the delay announcements begin.
Marvel email from 5/1
MAY072123 WORLD WAR HULK GAMMA CORPS #1 (OF 4) 07/18/07
MAY072124 WORLD WAR HULK GAMMA CORPS #2 (OF 4) 08/08/07
Then this week we get some adjustments and additions:
Marvel email from 5/8
APR072305 WORLD WAR HULK X-MEN #1 (OF 3) 06/27/07
MAY072123 WORLD WAR HULK GAMMA CORPS #1 (OF 4) 07/11/07
MAY072119 WORLD WAR HULK #2 (OF 5) 07/18/07
MAY072121 WORLD WAR HULK FRONTLINE #2 (OF 6) 07/18/07
MAY072125 WORLD WAR HULK X-MEN #2 (OF 3) 07/18/07
MAY072130 HEROES FOR HIRE #12 07/25/07
MAY072124 WORLD WAR HULK GAMMA CORPS #2 (OF 4) 08/22/07
I don't get why WWH Gamma Corps #1 gets pushed up a week but WWH Gamma Corps #2 gets pushed back two weeks.
I like Marvel, they make some great comics. I like events - they sell lots of comics. I like the Incredible Hulk - he's big and green. But I don't like lateness. On the other hand, they're not super late just yet. For example, World War Hulk #2 was originally due 7/11 - so it is only running a week behind at this point. I can take a week or two, but a month and a half like Civil War was, that will make me angry - and you wouldn't like me when I'm angry.
So far I haven't heard any excuses from Marvel on this, so it will be interesting to see when and if the spin starts.
