Fun this Weekend - Plus Sneaks & News

So, this weekend Craig & I headed down to Ft. Wayne IN for a comic & games retailer “summit.” We got to check out a bunch of new games, and brought a bunch back with us!! Ra, Pirates Cove, Carcassone, Killer Bunnies and more! Now we’re more of a serious gaming store, and we’ve got more coming in the next couple of weeks too. These family games make great gifts, by the way. And, we’re going to do demos on the games in-store, to show you just how cool they are! Stay tuned for more details on that!

We’re also going to be re-arranging a few things again – I think once we’re done you’ll like it. But trust me, it’s not anything so huge that you won’t be able to find your way around!! Some of you might not even notice. But we have to move a few things around to make room for all of these cool new games.

There will be more fun changes to come – like more fun parties and promotions, a section showcasing some great items and events upcoming in the entertainment world, and a PSP give-away. Of course if you come into the store, check the web site and read the Neptune News you will know all about these events when they get closer, so pay attention. I don’t want to hear anyone complain that they didn’t know about one of these when the time comes.

Now your entertainment update with News & Sneaks!

ELLIUM: PRINCIPLES OF CHAOS shipping this November from Speakeasy comics. 128 page graphic novel, written & drawn by Jason Moser: Synopsis: Having her life ripped away one bloody piece at a time is only the beginning for Angelica Cain. Running from the murderers of her father, Angelica unwittingly becomes entangled in a shadow-war played out on a global front behind corporate logos. Thrust into a sub-culture of futuristic espionage, secret societies and the occult, Angelica's fate and that of the entire world hang in the balance! It looks interesting, but I didn’t read it at all—only paged through the first 5 pages or so. They call this a “preview” but it’s actually the whole book. Now if you read it and like it, you've got to buy a copy.

Remember back a few years when Marvel did a “Mangaverse” series? Well, they are doing it again. For those of you who love manga art, and/or fans of Marvel comics who are looking for something a little different, check out some of the art for the series, New Mangavarse-Rings of Fate, beginning in January.

More and more people are checking out, and loving The Amazing Joy Buzzards! It’s written by Mark Smith with art by Dan Hipp. The Amazing Joy Buzzards are the world's greatest Supernatural Stomping Rock and Roll Adventure band. It’s a high-energy comic with the feel of 1960’s film. Volume 2 is coming out soon, check out the interview on Broken Frontier.

The movie might have an uncertain future, but the graphic novel of Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons is still capturing the attention of entertainment fans. Entertainment Weekly did an “Oral History” article on the story this week!

You don’t know when, you don’t know where, and most of all, you don’t know who… but you will SOON!! In an unknown but upcoming issue of USA Today, there will be an exclusive article revealing the characters for the X-Men 3 movie. They say it will be in the next few weeks, but no other details are available yet – so keep your eyes open!

I don't know what station this could be played on, but check it out: Harvey and Bob Weinstein's nascent multimedia entity the Weinstein Co. is in final negotiations with Barbara Schneeweiss to develop a TV slate. In the works are a [series] based on Dimension Films' "Sin City" -- which would follow in the footsteps of 2006's second pic in Robert Rodriguez's "Sin" series.

For those of you who like to see half naked young women, check out the spoiler photos from Smallville’s Nov. 3 episode: Exposed, where Lois Lane goes under cover as a stripper, good ole’ former Dukes of Hazard co-star Tom Wopat will join John Schneider (Jonathan Kent) in this episode too.

While we're on the topic of strippers, male models will be used as ballboys at the 2006 WTA Tour Championships, officials say. – Now this might actually make watching tennis more interesting!
