What you've Been Waiting For

This is showing up a little later than usual today because we're doing all of our evening Wednesday prep early so we can go to our advanced screening of the 300 movie. But, it is not as late as some of this week's comics. It's a HUGE week, especially if you're a Marvel comics fan. Many were shipping out exactly a month after the previous issue, but there were these that really stood out as coming out quite a bit after the previous issue. Now please take note that these are not necessarily late - sometimes, for a variety of reasons, publishers have larger gaps between issues.

The shortest of this week's waits was for Fantastic Four #543. It is a Civil War crossover, so one could assume that it is late because of the delays on Civil War. The previous issue came out on January 17th.

Marvel's Ultimate Vision #3 is coming out this week - the previous issue came out about 2 months ago on Jan 4th - might not be late, maybe this is an every-other-month comic book, although I did order it in December, which means that I'd expect it in February.

Three of this week's comics had previous issues that came out on December 28, 2006. These were: Justice League of America #6 (wow-has it been that long?) by DC, Onslaught Reborn #3 (Loeb and Liefeld - two known for lateness) by Marvel and Superman Batman #32 by DC (note that #33 was on my final order cut-off this week--could they possibly be shipping #34 within the next 3 weeks?).

Another late book that seems to have been bumped because it's a Civil War tie-in was Captain America #25. The previous issue arrived 11/29/06.

Dead at 17 Vol 2 #3 is coming out this week. Issue #2 came out 11/22/06. We ordered this back in August, which means that #2 was also late since #3 should have shown up sometime in October if the system worked correctly. I had one fan of this book say he's still waiting for the final issue of the first volume--maybe he missed it or maybe the creator of this comic is just really slow.

Devil's Due publishes GI Joe and one of the mini-series, Dreadnoks #2 is coming out tomorrow. Issue #1 came out back on 11/15. I think most of the kids that bought this will have forgotten how the first one went by now.

Authority #2, published by DC's Wildstorm imprint, is coming out this week. The first issue came out back on 10/18. Apparently writer Grant Morrison is taking responsibility for this long delay.

Worldstorm #2, also published by DC's Wildstorm is even later to come out than Authority. Issue #1 came out back on 10/11. Not sure who to blame for the lateness on this one - other than DC. The whole Wildstorm relaunch has been kind of a failure - too many books running late.

And finally, the longest wait this week was for Dorothy #7. This comic is published by indie publisher Illusive Arts. There are always huge gaps in between issues of this comic book. Part of it is because the process is so unique - photos and art combined. However it does make it difficult to sell single issues - the trade paperback does ok though. Issue #6 came out 7/12/06--almost 8 months ago. We ordered it back in June--a LONG time ago. See why it can be hard to figure out what to order??

This week I'm reading:
52 WEEK #44
BULLET POINTS #5 (OF 5)
CAPTAIN AMERICA #25 CIVIL WAR
CIVIL WAR INITIATIVE
CRIMINAL #5
DARK TOWER GUNSLINGER BORN #2 (OF 7)
DETECTIVE COMICS #829
DOCTOR STRANGE OATH #5 (OF 5)
DYNAMO 5 #1
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #6
MANHUNTER #29
MIGHTY AVENGERS #1
NEWUNIVERSAL #4
SHAZAM THE MONSTER SOCIETY OF EVIL #2 (OF 4)
TEMPLAR CHRONICLES THE HERETIC #1

Maybe a few more, but I'm still behind on the last couple of weeks. So many comics, so little time.
