Incredible Hulk Party: The Follow-Up
Our Welcome Back Hulk party even made it to the Diamond Daily - an email newsletter sent to all Diamond accounts that are set up to receive emails. And one retailer posted about it on a comic book retailer forum we frequent. Fun Stuff!
Here are some sales numbers, for those wondering.
World War Hulk #1 sold 41% of what we ordered so far in it's first week (should be pretty close to that by the time today ends).
Incredible Hulk #106 was the first issue of WWH and it came out about a month ago. That sold about 73% as well as World War Hulk #1 in it's first week, but has since surpassed WWH #1 first week numbers.
In comparison - Civil War #1 sold through 76% of our initial orders in it's first week, about 33% better than World War Hulk #1's first week sales.
Looking at a different publisher - DC's Infinite Crisis sold through 56% of our initial orders in it's first week, about 27% better than World War Hulk #1 first week.
World War Hulk #1 has sold 73% more issues first week than the total sales of the first issue of Incredible Hulk where Planet Hulk started, and 27% better in it's first week than the total sales of Incredible Hulk #100 - which was our best selling Incredible Hulk issue before the World War Hulk started.
Do major events sell comics - sure looks that way. While World War Hulk hasn't done Civil War numbers yet, it has performed quite well it's first week out, especially considering how well Hulk typically sells without an event.
