Tomorrow is the middle of August! And it's getting dark by the time I get home now. I have no idea where the time goes!! But once again it is time for my weekly installment of What You've Been Waiting For, where I look at my Diamond Invoice for the week and compare it with my ongoing current comic spreadsheet, finding comics that have gone longer than 7 weeks between issues and letting people know what they are. Sometimes they're late, sometimes they're just comics that go a while between issues. Either way, you've been waiting a month or more for them.
The shortest of the long waits this week goes to Wolverine Origins #16 (Marvel). The prior issue of this came out back on June 27th, just making my cut.
Fathom Kiani #3 (Aspen) is coming out tomorrow, and the previous issue came out on June 20th. Now I know people see Fathom and feel bad for complaining about lateness because Tuner has been ill. However, he's not working on this comic. Not even the cover! I say Aspen Comics needs to get it's schedule together - more on this later.
Loveless #19 (DC/Vertigo) is coming out two months after the previous issue, which hit shelves back on June 13th. This used to be a regular monthly comic, so I don't know what's happened here. Lately it's been running later and later with each issue.
Spider-Man Family #4 (Marvel) seems to be basically on-time, so I'd say that it must just go every couple of months, and then maybe it was pushed back a week or two for some reason, like Marvel needed to ship SOMETHING this week after several larger weeks in a row. The third issue of this came out back on June 5th.
And finally - the longest of long waits between issues goes to Shrugged #6 (Aspen). The previous issue of this came out WAY back on March 21st. Maybe Aspen waits to ship until they've got a couple of titles ready? The Aspen web site shows #7 already. But at least with this issue you can put some of it on Turner, as he's supposed to be a co-writer on the book with Frank Mastromauro. There were lots and lots of Aspen fans a couple of years ago, but as their shipping schedule becomes more erratic and Turner becomes less and less involved in the actual creation of the end product, more and more people are asking us to take these comics off of their pull lists.
Before I move on to what I'm reading, let me just point out something frustrating. Action Comics is making us nuts over here. They changed the release date of the 3D issue a couple of times before it came out. They've got the Johns/Donner stories scattered all over the place with fill-in issues in-between. Then, they go through these late streaks, and then start releasing an issue every other week to try to catch up (the issue coming out this week is only 2 weeks after the previous one) We can't figure out how many to order of this anymore! People are leaving the title in droves. DC - this is one of your longest running titles - start treating it with a little respect - don't just expect people to buy it because "It's Action Comics! How can you NOT buy it?" Because, apparently it's pretty easy to not buy it.
