Chew Mania

Have you heard of Image's Chew series? Issue #1 recently came out and it's white hot. Issues on eBay are selling for 3-5 times cover price.

This comic is definitely a surprise hit. We didn't order it initially at Neptune - we'd heard nothing about it and none of our customers asked us for it. That seems to be the case at many comic book stores since the comic is so hard to find now and the demand after it's been released high enough to run up the price on eBay. Something like that is fairly rare for these types of independent comics.

Yesterday we had a customer come in and share with us how he had to trade a Red Hulk for this with a friend of his, and s summary of the story so far. One thing I was amazed with is how much happened in just one issue of this comic book. It seemed like he was describing a story told in a graphic novel, not in one issue of a series.

Personally I will have to pick up the issue when the second print comes out next month and see if it is as much fun as it sounds. That's right - there WILL be a second print coming, so if you missed it and don't want to pay those eBay prices, sit tight because there will be a second print of #1. Make sure you let your comic book retailer you want it, as well as the next issues, so you don't miss it.
