New Avengers #31 - Reserve Your Copy Now

The closer it gets to the release of New Avengers #31, the more little bits and pieces come out. Still not enough to really explain WHY this comic is going to be so important to the Marvel Universe - but I've been assured almost weekly in our friendly Marvel emails as well as other on-line sources that this issue IS going to be big. Not CNN news big like Captain America #25 was, but still a VERY big deal - like Civil War #1 big. So, if you don't already have this on your pull list, you might want to ad it now.

Rich Johnston says on this week's Lying in the Gutters (and gives it a green light):
"Joe Quesada and Brian Bendis have dropped non-too-subtle hints that the last page of New Avengers #31 will have universe-changing implications for the Marvel Universe. And he gets in a nice little smack to Wizard for their Cap #25 move.

Now, I'd hate to drop spoilers for something Marvel have been building up for so long. But I'm told by a good source that this issue will be the start of the events that make up the 2008 mega-Marvel crossover thing.

As far as I can tell, there's no way certain retailers will have ordered enough copies. This isn't a "Captain America" #25 moment; it's more of a "Civil War" #1. So if you want a copy, either reserve it, camp out, or wait and see how much Wizard are selling them for on eBay."

Marvel's official press release says:
"Everything has been leading up to one revelation that will rock the Marvel Universe at its very core. There are no coincidences. There are no heroes who won’t be affected. There is no escape. When you’ve finished reading New Avengers #31, you’ll realize why this is the one issue you just can’t miss. The superstar creative team of Brian Michael Bendis and Leinil Francis Yu have been thrilling critics and fans alike with their new direction for New Avengers, but you never saw the last page of this issue coming!"

We ordered Civil War #1 quantity on this comic, after changing the number several times. Now we're hoping that what they say is true. This issue is set to release on June 13th - the same day as World War Hulk - so it's going to be a BIG day for Marvel comics! (Isn't that just like Marvel to kick off events for 2008's Big Event on the same day that their 2007 Big Event starts?) I have a feeling that we'll be pretty busy on June 13th - at least that's what I hope. I do read the title, but usually in paperback form. It looks like I'll have to catch up on those and then read the single issues we've got so I'm ready for whatever those nutty guys over at Marvel are going to pull next.

Hmmm sounds like we findout what the "BIG" conspiracy is about and we will see or start to see the return of Nick Fury.

I just get the trades though so I'm not worried about not getting a copy :P
