But The Losers IS a Comic Book

Tim Story is the director for Fantastic Four, Rise of the Silver Surfer, which opens this week.

When he finished, he told his agents that he didn't want to do another comic book movie, or anything "fantasy." He wanted to do something real and "very edgy." Then he got a script for The Losers and wanted to make it. Sometime after that someone let him in on the secret - The Losers IS a comic book! It was, anyway - now the series is finished and collected in a series of graphic novels. It is a crime story. DC's description of it says, "Once an elite U.S. Special Forces unit, the Losers served as the covert bloody hand of America until they stumbled across a C.I.A. secret they couldn't ignore. The C.I.A. tried to kill them, but they're about to learn that it takes more than one try to eliminate the Losers." It was written by Andy Diggle, was nominated for the Eisner Award for Best New Series in 2004 and won a National Comics Award for Best New Comic in 2004. Diggle is currently writing Batman Confidential and the upcoming Green Arrow: Year One mini-series.

Well, The Losers may have been a comic book, but it wasn't "comic-booky"...although it certainly flirted with it towards the end.

Still, Hollywood usually always f*cks this sort of thing up so I'm apprehensive.

Johnny - you're right. It wasn't a super hero fantasy type comic book.

Hollywood doesn't have a great track record. Hopefully they won't mess it up too badly. I just like that they making more and more comics into movies. It helps business. Plus it's probably easier for them since you basically already have a storyboard.
