What you've Been Waiting For

All right fanboys and fangirls, another week has come and gone, and once again it is time to find out what comics you've been waiting for that are finally coming out this week. Some are late, some are not. But either way, you have been waiting seven or more weeks since the last issue hit comic book store shelves.

I will also point out what mini-series and one-shots Marvel & DC (the Big Two) have starting and ending this week. This post will then end with the list of comics I'm reading (or hoping to read) out of this week's comic book haul.

What You've Been Waiting For

My cutoff this week was 8/22, but nothing coming out this week had the previous issue hit shelves then.

However, three of this week's new comics had their prior issues on the racks back on 8/15: Brave and the Bold #7 (DC), Dragonlance Chronicles Vol 3 #4 (Devil's Due), and Spider-Man Family #5 (Marvel) will all come out this week, after about 2 months between issues. I don't think Brave and the Bold was originally supposed to be an every-other-month release, but it looks like it has gone to that, as is Spider-Man family. Dragonlance Chronicles #4 was ordered back in April - so that does look like it's running late.

Powers #26 (Marvel) (pictured) and Red Sonja #26 (Dynamite Entertainment)are both 26's, and both come out this week. Both also had their previous issues release on 8/8. We ordered Powers back in January (YIKES!) and fans of the series will tell you it is ALWAYS late. Red Sonja was ordered back in June, so it is probably a little bit late as well.

Last week there were a bunch of Grimm Fairy Tales items that shipped. Looks like they decided to hold off on one GFT title until this week. Grimm Fairy Tales Return To Wonderland #3 (Zenoscope Entertainment) comes out tomorrow, and the prior issue was released back on 8/1, and we ordered the new issue in June, so it is probably late. Another comic coming in tomorrow that had the prior issue come out 8/1 is Starkweather Immortal #1 (Archaia Studios) (there was a #0 issue). It was also ordered in June.

Three of this week's releases have not had another issue release since 7/25. Elephantmen #11 (Image) was ordered back in May - so it looks like it's late. Mighty Avengers #5 (Marvel) was also ordered in May - I think Cho is staking his time drawing this. Maybe once he's off the title it will come out regularly again. Witchblade #110 (Image/Top Cow) was also ordered back in May too. Looks like May was a rough month.

Wonderland #5 (Amaze Ink/Slave Labor) had its previous issue make its way to shelves back on June 20. It was ordered in July, and this series always seems to have big gaps between issues.

And the latest of the late this week is a comic that most people won't even care about: Nascar Heroes #2. The prior issue released back on May 2nd.

Concerning the Witchblade issue. The story in it was supposed to be the one for issue #111. This issue was supposed to be drawn by artist Matt Haley. But things broke down and were changed due to two main reasons:

1) Matt haley bowwed out on the issue, because he was in the middle of doing "Who Wants To Be A Superhero Season 2".

2) Ron Marz had a death in the family.

These factors combined made producing the original version of #110 pretty much impossible, without holding up the whole First Born storyline for months (ala, how Marvel did with Civil War and it's tie-ins). So, the choice was made to scrap it and make issue #111 into #110, and just have a late gap between issues (which is nothing too uncommon for Top Cow).

Anyway, thought you'd appreciate getting the lowdown on that.
