Pay No Attention to the McFarlane Behind the Curtain

According to Variety.com, Todd McFarlane, most well known for his Spawn series and toy line, has written his own version of the Wizard of Oz story for the big screen. He says it's PG-13, dark and edgy and not a Munchkin in sight. Olson, the other guy on the project, says he sees it as more of a PG project... hmmm, creative differences already.

McFarlane toys did do a line of Wizard of Oz toys that was pretty wierd. The two photos are of Dorothy with a Munchkin and the Scarecrow - so you can see how wierd these are.

"Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures are teaming on "Oz," a revisionist take on the L. Frank Baum books that hatched "The Wizard of Oz."

Project was acquired based on an idea by Todd McFarlane that was fleshed out and pitched by Josh Olson ("A History of Violence").

Olson will write and McFarlane will produce with Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk. Rick Benattar ("Shoot ’Em Up") is exec producer."

This is still in its early stages, so we will see how it all flushes out in the end. I'm thinking it might be something like Wizard of Oz meets Pan's Labrynth meets Clockwork Orange.

All he does is plays with toys and do development junk that goes nowhere. I mean when was the last time he even did a comic?

Yeah, that's true. He's worse than Kevin Smith when it comes to talking about things vs. getting them done.

WTF?!

His friggin toy line for OZ is ALREADY pushing an "R" rating!!

What a hoax.

Why doesn't he just go buy another baseball for $millions and shut up for a while!

I basically live in the same town as him. Mebbie I'll pay him a visit and throw old Spawn toys at his massive head.

Yeah - throw some toys at his head - an easy target. Take pictures!
